Special Needs Care

For those individuals with Alzheimer's or other types of dementia and who would benefit from a secure environment, we have our memory care unit. Focused activities in a safe and secure environment provides individuals an enhanced quality of life. The Special Needs Unit also has a safe and secure patio area that facilities outside recreation.

The goal of our special needs care Center is to enable those with dementia to perform at their highest level of function through a variety of activities, rehabilitation and communication.

The Allen Cognitive Levels/dementia stages are a road map for care. They tell us both "what is possible" for the individual at a stage or level and alert us to the areas of highest risk. The dementia stage provides a plethora of information to facilitate maximum performance in ADLs and mobility and they help us to proactively identify areas of high risk in order to reduce the incidence of hospitalizations.

Focused Activities

More than quality of care, Ayers Health and Rehabilitation Center also focuses on purposeful living for individuals and families affected by dementia.

Ayers partners work with individuals through focus activities to improve cognitive memory and enhance their overall quality of life. A focus group is given to our dementia care program in our beautiful and secure Garden Gate Community.

We use the Allen Cognitive Levels/Dementia Stages as a road map for care. From this we will find out "what is possible" for the person at their stage or level of their dementia and secondly it alerts us to the areas of their highest risk. From there, it provides us with valuable information to facilitate maximum performance and mobility. Then, we can choose which activities will best suite the individual for memory and mobility and implement them into their daily routines.

Using the Allen Cognitive Levels helps us proactively identify areas of risk and high risk in order to reduce accidents and hospitalizations.
